The role requires both live directing and technical troubleshooting skills. The ideal candidate has a thorough understanding of broadcast-centric technologies and operational models. Along with directing the position will support broadcast software and hardware as well as traditional desktop services.Directing Responsibilities Include:Direct live newscasts, recorded productions, live streams, cut-ins, and commercial projectsDetermine camera angles, lighting, and set arrangementEnsure effective interaction between the control room and multiple departments across the organizationOther duties to include: Camera Robotics, Audio, Live Shot Acquisition, and Media IngestBroadcast Support Responsibilities Include:Provide technical support to other teams within Technology and Operations at WUSADevelop new workflows designed to improve quality and reduce discrepanciesDesign and implement permanent technical solutionsPartner with Studio Operations and Field Operations groups to maintain systems and complete technology projectsSeek opportunities to increase newsgathering efficiency by implementation of smart technologyMust possess strong multitasking skillsMake new technology recommendations, identify best practices, and establish high operating standardsSupport day to day operations of broadcast information technology systems, software, and equipmentTroubleshoot and repair computer hardware, software, and peripheralsProvide support for disaster recovery systems
