We are looking for individuals to work on a per project/show basis with our Costume shop in the role of Firsthand.Responsibilities:• Constructing of new costumes• Altering of existing costumes• Pattern corrections, pattern truing, pattern grading• Washing and rolling fabrics• Cutting• Machine sewing- industrial and domestic, straight, zig, serger and blind hemmer• Hand sewing and finishing• Coordinating base and undergarments as needed• Assisting in Fittings & Measurements • Supervising of Stitchers as needed• Pressing and steaming as needed• Working with Interns and StudentsQualifications-• Established work experience with Dance, Opera and Theater Costumes• Knowledge of costume construction techniques• Ability to follow instruction and work independently• Ability to work in a team and maintain a professional demeanor at all times
