Logline:While still reeling from an unexpected breakup, a wannabe musician thinks she finds her soulmate in a talented guitar player.Synopsis:Following a sudden breakup with her punk-rocker girlfriend, a lifelong music obsessive decides to take life into her own hands and finally commit to being a musician. Instead of taking the time to sit through the discomfort of being a “beginner,” Sadie gets too frustrated and, instead, tends to date people who represent who she wishes she could be (talented musicians). The first step in her plan to becoming a “real musician” is to buy a “real guitar,” intent on replacing the janky one she and her ex took from a junk pile on the side of the road.  While trying out potential guitars, Sadie hears the playing of a Guy who looks and sounds the part of “professional rock star.” Immediately, she falls into her typical trap of obsession and fantasy— imagining a strangers entire life, personality, and how they would react to any given situation. When Sadie and the Guy try to play together, they cannot connect like they do in Sadie’s fantasies. She is too consumed with how she may have met her soulmate. He is too consumed with practicing a song he has been composing. When the Guy leaves, Sadie’s memory of being left by her ex for requiring too much of her is triggered. However, before she can fully spiral— “Rivers”, the stores only working employee, strikes some sense into her. He offers her the help she needs to really begin with guitar, while aiding her along the path to know that she’s always had the ability to succeed in music, she just has to believe she can do it and put in the work to make it a reality (instead of just dreaming about it).
