Primary Purpose: The Theatrical Scenic Team is a division of Entertainment Services focused primarily on the design, fabrication, maintenance, and repair of all SeaWorld’s scenic and theming elements including Entertainment Shows, Events, Ride Theming and Exhibits Basic Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years of Age and must submit a resume to be considered for this position.Must have a theatrical technical experience and be proficient within at least one of the following areas: Theatrical Carpentry & Theming, Props Fabrication, Scenic Arts PaintingMust be familiar in working with hand & power tools including circular saws, sanders, grinders and other various toolsMust be able to fabricate scenery and paint using color elevation diagrams and various construction documentsMust be able to multitask, have strong communication skills, a team player, exhibit strong problem solving skillsMust be capable of climbing ladders and working at heights to over 100’-0” (catwalks, boom lifts, man lifts, etc.).Must be able to lift 50 pounds or more.Must be familiar with OSHA, NEC, NFPA, ANSI, and IBC standardsMust be able to obtain a SEA Parks Drivers Permit for (cart, truck) and operate forklifts & high reach equipment.Must be able to stand, walk, and work for prolonged periods of time in extreme outdoor weather conditions.Must be willing to work a flexible schedule to include weekdays, weekends, evenings, overnights and holidaysMust be willing to comply with all SEA grooming guidelines and employment standards.Must be able to successfully complete all legal, company and department training requirements to include but not limited to passing required tests and certifications within established timelines.Preferred Qualifications (but not required): College Degree in Technical Theatre or related Education(2 years) Professional Technical Entertainment/Theme Park/Cruise Ship Experience.Advanced knowledge and ability to demonstrate competency within one or more of the following fields:Theatrical & Entertainment Painting & Theming including working with fiberglass, foliage and textiles, paints and color matching, décor treatments, mold making and sculpting, and using various specialty coatingsTheatrical Scenic Construction including MIG welding, metal or fiberglass work, basic rigging, hand prop building, CNC machines, durable but lightweight construction techniquesAbility to fabricate props, scenery, builds from conceptual rending interpretations to blueprint/construction documentsExperience in the upkeep of vehicle parade floats from theming, painting, and operational green tag and close down processesDemonstrate ability to lead a crew of scenic artists on tasks as delegated by the Unit SupervisorDaily Job Function:Scenic painting and preparation of scenic elements and properties for all related shows, events, rides, lands and exhibits.Deployment and installation of scenic elements and properties for all related shows, events, rides, lands and exhibits.Repair and Show Readiness Upkeep of all parade float elements including float theming, inflatables, power functions, scenic pieces, safety mechanisms, and on route scenery and theming elementsSupport Park wide special events with set-up and strike of portable staging, theming, and scenic elements as needed.Troubleshooting, maintenance and/or repair of all scenic elements, properties, equipment and hardware.Daily venue specific maintenance, operation, start-up and shut-down shop procedures, and morning opening and evening closing duties as assignedMaintains a professional appearance that meets grooming standards.Maintain shop cleanliness, inventory stocking, and participate in white glove cleaning initiativesPractice safety as it pertains to SEA Best Practices and Rigging Standards and all other relevant industry guidelines.Assist with training and development of all lower level scene shop personnel, as assigned.Consistently practices safe work habits including, but not limited to, use of personal protective equipment, lifting, driving and reporting of unsafe situations.Cross train into Entertainment Operations Show Roles when assigned including Deck Tracks, Follow Spot Operators, Parade Float Driver, and other various positions. Operators will go through training and sign-off prior to being scheduled for operational shifts.Assist with other Entertainment Projects as assigned
