"Criminal exploitation is an emotive subject so we're very grateful that Thomas has agreed to help us get it right when it comes to casting and working with local people," director John Gilbert said.
"The experience he brings to a production like this will no doubt make this more of a positive and exciting experience for everyone involved."
Thomas Turgoose had never acted before when he was cast in the role of Shaun Fields in This Is England at the age of 13.
Since then he has appeared in Shane Meadows' follow-up film Somers Town as well as the This Is England TV series and Game of Thrones.
