5 new TV shows to look out for in 2018
A lot of great TV shows are coming up, this year, including new seasons of NCIS, Will & Grace, Bob's Burgers and The Handmaid's Tale.
But there are also some exciting new shows due to grace our screens in 2018.
Here are five shows Mandy News are looking forward to:
9-1-1
From Glee creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk comes a procedural drama based around the every day exploits of police, fire fighters and paramedics. The trailer seems to juggle a light-heartedness and high octane tension. Peter Krause (Parenthood), Connie Britton (SMILF) and Angela Bassett (Black Panther) star.
Good Girls
Landing somewhere between Bad Moms and Thelma & Louise by way of Breaking Bad, Good Girls follows a three suburban mother who are struggling with money and so decide to rob a convenience store. And, of course, end up getting more than they bargained for. Retta (Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce), Mae Whitman (Family Guy) and Christina Hendricks (Mad Men) star.
The Chi
From Emmy Award-winning Master of None writer Lena Waithe, comes this coming-of-age drama about a group of kids figuring out life in Chicago, US. The trailer brings to mind aspects of Oscar-winner Moonlight, and stars Jason Mitchell (Straight Outta Compton), Jacob Latimore (The Maze Runner) and Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine (Heroes).
The Ballad of Buster Scruggs
The Coen Brothers (No Country For Old Men, The Big Lebowski) will bring their signature style to TV this year with a Western anthology. While it's not the first time the Coen's work has been adapted tor the small screen (Fargo, anybody?), this will be the first time they have written and directed for it. It will be a six-part mini-series with each part focusing on a different story about the American West.
Maniac
Jonah Hill (The Wolf of Wall Street) and Emma Stone (La La Land) reunite over a decade after Superbad to work on Maniac. Based on a Norwegian comedy from 2014, the show will focus on a mental patient who retreats into a fantasy world in their mind.
